Mike Ferguson created “Cold Imagination” from Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley (1818). Please click here to read.
About the poem and the process of composing it, Mike Ferguson writes:
The poem “Cold Imagination” is from a collection of cut-ups found in the British novel canon, an arbitrary find and a catalogue to some degree, but also conventional. I have not attempted to reflect the original narrative or establish conventional “meanings,” though these do occasionally intrude, as here where there is an authorial echo. The extract for this poem was digitally randomised with various online cut-up generators, and the poem then crafted from this.
